Installation and Adjustment of the Clutch Control, Part 1

(Continued)

The clutch lever comes with the cable that connects to the clutch lever on the motor. If you are sitting on the seat of the bike, slide the left hand handle bar grip off and slide the clutch handle onto the handle bar. Replace the hand grip and tighten the lever using the Allen screw, in the position that is easily assessable and comfortable when you are on the bike.

If the clutch cable is not hooked to anything slide the eye lug into the proper place in the clutch lever assembly. Next, route the cable down to the right hand side of the engine, from the positing of sitting on the bike. Feed the clutch cable through the large spring included with the kit and then thread it through clutch support post, shown in the image below. The large spring should be positioned so that it keeps the clutch cable from touching the motor. This is to keep the cable from touching the motor and melting the cables outer jacket.

Next feed the end of the clutch cable through the smaller spring, included in the kit. This spring helps push the motor clutch swing arm out. Now feed the end of the clutch cable through the motor clutch swing arm and attach the brass cable retainer piece to the end of the cable as shown in the image below.

To properly adjust the clutch you need to adjust this cable so that the motor is disengages from the rear wheel when the clutch lever is locked out using the clutch lock out button.
