General Maintenance
Your MoBike is a combination of a motor drive kit and a bicycle. Because your bike can be driven by a motor and reach speeds up to 30 mph. you need to take more time to insure everything remains tight and adjusted properly. Note: Your MoBike is designed for dirt or paved road operation. Using it to perform jumps and excessive off road use may cause damage to the motor drive system.
Tire Pressure
Most MoBikes come with tires that recommend 50 lbs. of air pressure. We recommend pressures between 40 and 50 lbs. Improper pressure can cause excessive tire ware as well as handling problems when riding your bike.
Seat Adjustment
Your MoBike seat should be adjusted so that your leg is almost fully extended when the pedal is pushed fully downward. Another consideration should be the ability reach the ground when you are stopped.
Brake Adjustment
If you have the MoBike Model 1 which uses the pedals to engage a rear wheel brake hub (Coaster Brakes) there is not adjustment to be concerned with. The Model 2 uses front disk brakes and rear pad brakes. Our unique single lever dual pull brake handle makes it possible to engage both the front and rear brakes with one handle. You should adjust the front and rear brakes so that you have good stopping ability when the lever is pulled half way towards the handle bars. Note: It is a good idea to adjust the brake system so that the rear brake engages first and the front brake second. For detailed information on the brake system adjustment see the Brake System Adjustment section of the Main MoBike Manual.
Basic Bolt and Nut Checks
Because you operate your MoBike at higher than normal bicycle speeds you need to make regular checks on all nuts and bolts for tightness. Check both front and rear wheel axel nut, rear wheel sprocket tightness as well as the engine block nuts. Check carburetor, exhaust and fuel tank securing nuts after every few tanks of fuel. Note: Be sure not to tighten anything two tight as this may result in stripping the bolt or nut.
Motor Drive Chain Adjustment
The motor drive chain will initially stretch until the chain is broke in. This means you need to check and adjust it to the proper tension every thirty to fifty miles for about the first 200 miles. After this the chain will require less frequent adjustment as it reaches a broke in point. See the Motor Drive Chain Adjustment section of the Main MoBike Manual to learn how to adjust the chain properly.
